Community Employment Coordinators

MTC Work Solutions (MTC) has been delivering the Community Employment Coordinator services at Lakemba and Macquarie Fields since July 2007.

The Coordinators work closely with young disadvantaged job seekers in Lakemba and Macquarie Fields and provide linkages between them, employers and local employment service providers.  They also help unemployed young people move into traineeships, apprenticeships and other positions, and also assist with literacy and numeracy education.

The Lakemba coordinator identifies and assists in overcoming specific barriers to employment that may be faced by young Muslim job seekers.

The Community Employment Coordinator project is part of the Australian Government’s National Action Plan to promote Social Cohesion, Harmony and Security in Australian communities.

As of 30 June 2009 the CEC ceased to be funded by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations.  As MTC's commitment to the Lakemba and Macquarie Fields communities we have extended the funding of the CEC to 30 June 2010.
