The Get Wheel Project
In conjunction with Sunrise Rotary, this project assembles and completes off-road style wheelchairs primarily for child-victims of landmines in third-world countries.
The project also involves participants modifying bikes for disabled children throughout Australia. MTC Work Solutions have partnered with Technical Aid for the Disabled (TAD) in order to deliver this project, custom building each bike for the individual child. This process involves making back supports, pedals and training wheels that can support the weight of the child.
Villawood Day of Festivals
MTC has an on-going relationship with the Villawood Detention Centre, where illegal immigrants and refugees are held while their visa process is completed. MTC actively participates in the annual Day of Festivals, which is a celebration of diversity for detainees, their families and the wider community.
Outreach Employment Services - Bonnyrigg Housing Estate
MTC provided a free outreach programme for residents living in the Bonnyrigg Department of Housing Estate. This programme included job search support, self-paced computer programmes in Microsoft Office and touch-typing. MTC provided a staff member once a week for one-on-one support and computers on-site free of charge. The programme worked with the residents to assist with job seeking and building confidence to re-enter the workforce.
