East Program

Project Outline

E.A.S.T (Education After School Tutoring) program aims to meet the needs of young people (12-17) in local government areas where MTC sites are located and where the community need exists for tutorial/homework group classes for young people disengaged from mainstream education.
 
By offering locally based tutoring within small group tutoring, EAST program will promote a strong emphasis on the importance of education, and provide young people with the opportunity to re-engage with their local school, peers and the community.

Eligibility

The eligibility for free tutoring* will be prioritised in the following order:

  • Students living within the LGA
  • Referral from teacher, literacy/numeracy trainer, youth worker
  • Lack of financial capacity

Location

Tutoring sessions will take place one (1) day per week at each location between the hours of 4.00-6.00pm. Two tutors will be employed at each site therefore student/teacher ratios would ideally range from 2:5 to 2:12.

1. Redfern - TBC
2. Belmore - Monday
3. Bankstown - Tuesday
4. Liverpool - Wednesday
5. Fairfield - TBC
6. Parramatta - Monday
7. Campbelltown - Tuesday
8. Ashfield - TBC
9. Hurstville - TBC
