Overview

Work in the aged care field is both demanding and extremely rewarding. Those seeking careers in aged care should enjoy being with the elderly. Desirable qualities for this work are patience, understanding, imagination, cheerfulness, energy, adaptability, physical fitness and a willingness to take responsibility. You must also have good physical and psychological health to be able to handle the elderly which is necessary to meet course requirements including the practicum.

The aged care industry is a projected growth area. Graduates are in very high demand and due to the skill shortage area; there is an increased chance of gaining employment. This course has national accreditation, which allows graduates the opportunity to apply for work throughout Australia or to work overseas.

Graduates can work as Community Care Workers, AIN’s (Assistant in Nursing), Personal Care Assistants, Community Support Workers, Homecare Workers.

Course Structure

The Certificate III in Aged Care combines theory and practice through students attending formal training and successfully completing 2 weeks/ 80hours work experience.

Entry Requirements

There are no prerequisites for this course.

Applicants must undergo a Language Literacy test before enrolling into the course as well as a NSW Police Check.

We recommend applicants are over the age of 18.

Assessment

Successful completion of this program will be through a combination of workplace projects, classroom assessment and testing
